Monkey Mia is a pleasant surprise after hearing so much negative press about the place on the journey here. Single traveller rate ($26.80 with RAA membership) for an unpowered site is the cheapest in the area at the moment- $45/night at Nanga and $46 in Denham. Park entry is $15/day or $25/week on top of that, so staying a few nights here would end up being the cheapest local option (with amenities). Yes it's a resort but it still feels laid-back.

It's a great park. Good ammenities and the bar and restaurant have separate happy hours each day where you can sit and watch the dolphins swim past. If you don't want to pay extra for the dolphin experience it's not an issue. The dolphin frequent the bay all day. The camp kitchen is top notch. Hot showers and $4 washing and $2 to dry.

coz we can

What an excellent park. You don't need to pay for the dolphin experience. It's free from the caravan park. A pod of 5 come in at 3pm and love to play with the people on the beach. Clean, peaceful and spacious.
