Shannon, Western Australia

The present Shannon Campground was a thriving town in the 1940's where mill workers resided with their families. They worked at the Shannon Timber Mill, north of the highway. Shannon Campground has recently been upgraded and there are now over 60 campsites to choose from. Whether you have a tent, campervan, caravan or even a large 5th wheeler, you are sure to find a site that suits your needs. Two camp huts are available on a first arrival basis. Gas barbecues, hot showers and upgraded walk trails make this a great spot to spend a few days. You can also camp with your horse at the recently built Shannon Horse Camp. A large, securely fenced area near the Shannon Oval provides plenty of room to stay with your horse. Horse yards, hitching rails and compost bays are located within the fenced area. Toilets and showers are a short walk away in the main Shannon Campground (no horses permitted). Camping and day entry fees apply and can be paid at the fee shelter at the Shannon Lodge. Great Scenery, plenty of wildlife to been seen. But please don't handle wildlife. Great place for bush walking and observing nature. With many species of wildflowers, ferns and more. Please wipe your feet before entering the forest as disease can be carried on your shoes and will kill the vegetation .Do remember not to pick any plants. Do be responsible for your safety and take things at your own risk. Campfires are usually permitted, in the provided fire rings only, between April 15 and November 30 but fire restrictions may be imposed at any time and without notice. Bring your own firewood. When fire restrictions are in place campfires must not be lit and any appliance powered by burning solid fuel must not be used. Always comply with any instructions at campgrounds and parks. Campers´ own liquid or gas fuel barbeques, stoves and heaters can be used at any time, unless a total fire ban has been declared. Dogs are not permitted.

Awesome spot thanks DPWF stayed midweek only ones here, flushing toilets warm showers & fire pits free wood, good mobile phone reception so best pick your site and book once here. If you stay in the higher site numbers you are protected from weather with nice views and heaps of visits from local wildlife

This is a gold star example of how a national park camping should be set up and managed. Over 68 huge sites, flushing toilets and a hot shower if you light the wood-fired hot water service. No power, but hey, you're camping right! RV dump point and Telstra service. Just located off the main road and super peaceful.

Great spot with heaps of space. Booking only online but we had Telstra reception there so we could do it by the host camp. Communal fire pit in the open space and most of the bush camp sites have a pit. Great amenities, it's not often you can have a hot shower and flushing toilets in a NP even if you have to stoke the fire for hot water.
