Helena And Aurora Range (Bungalbin) North
Campground

Description
The Helena and Aurora Range is a magnificent banded ironstone formation range in Western Australia. This campsite is located on the northern side.
There are no facilities at this site. Campers must be self-sufficient. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.
4WD is required to access this site. The range is best avoided if rain is expected (or has recently occurred) since the access track from Koolyanobbing can become extremely treacherous in places after even modest rainfall, particularly if towing. Extreme care is required if accessing the northern campsite in such cases since flash flooding in the valley that separates the western hills from the main range can make the vehicle access track impassable at this point.
Pets are not permitted.

Stayed 3 nights. Lots of level camp spots. Plenty of space and shade. By ourselves most of the time. Biting midges around dusk only. Road in from Koolyanobbing fairly good but some boggy spots drying out after rain and a washout or two but could get around them. Some corrugations in spots but mostly good. Would not recommend caravans due to boggy spots and limited space to manouver around them.

Such a lovely place, we likened it to a mini Pilbara. Lots of bird life chirping away, didn't see any other wildlife other than emu tracks. Beautiful spot!

Absolutely beautiful. Awesome camp ground for all types of camping styles. Beautiful amongst the tall trees. Lots of wood around when fires are allowed. Lots of birds. Beautiful view from the top of the mountain. The track does form a huge loop around the base of the mountain although you can not drive it in a complete loop as part of the track is closed. The closed part of the track makes an awesome hike up the mountain. Beautiful spot. You could take mountain bikes to explore all the tracks around the area. We had beautiful wild flowers to see in September.
