Description

St Mary Inlet is a peaceful, scenic waterbody nestled behind the fore-dunes near Point Ann in the Fitzgerald River National Park. There are no formal paths around the inlet, but when the water level is low you can explore its southern shore on foot. Fringing shrublands and thickets are often busy with songbirds. The inlet and surrounds is also a great spot to encounter a variety of waterbirds, parrots and birds of prey. St Mary Campground is located near the mouth of the inlet. Camp fees apply. Bookings are not available. There is a track from the campground that provides direct access to the beach where southern right whales can be seen sheltering in the bay with their young calves during winter. You can get to this site by 2WD. Sites are unpowered and suitable for tents and camper trailers and off road caravans. Toilet facilities are available. Pets are not permitted.
