CampgroundDescription
This paid campground offers toilets, showers and drinking water, open all year.
It is accessible (by dirt road) to RVs, camper trailers, caravans and big rigs.
We have bedded accommodation from April till October.
Comfortable historic homestead accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Charming furnished bell tents and cottage at the Shearer's quarters with shared bathroom facilities and a rustic cook house to prepare meals and relax.
Daily tours of the homestead, that was designed by Monsignor John Hawes, with morning tea available during the season.
This outback experience we understand is not everyone's cup of tea. We endeavour to provide clean workable facilities and utilise what we have as we rely solely at the moment on the kindness of travellers coming to see our piece of wilderness for our only income.
We are unable to run sheep on the property because of the carnage the wild dogs wreak on them so our visitors are very important to us.
Every cent we make goes back into saving and restoring a unique building and replacing infrastructure that has not been maintained or replaced for a good 40-50 years.
We are committed to not only the resurrection of the building but also the environment and our potential to eventually be a working sheep station again.
We generate all our own power by solar and love the silence that comes with this arrangement so we are unable to and also unwilling to disturb the peace by having a big generator going all the time just for a few people who have to have power.
It's not an easy life especially during summer when no one wants to brave the heat of the outback but this is when we do all our maintenance and repairs so hopefully when you come to visit next time you will see the changes that we have been toiling away to make your stay more pleasant. See you soon. Jo and Ken.
