Description

Herald Night is located in Francois Peron National Park. The sweeping arc of Herald Bight is usually protected from the prevailing south-westerly winds. At the end of a rough, sandy track, this was the location of a pearling camp in the late 1880's and old pearlshells can still be seen in the area. More recently a small fish canning factory and then a fish freezer preserved fish for market. The freezer closed in 1947. 4WD is required to access this site. The informal campsite has a toilet. Camping fees apply. No bookings, first come, first serve. There is no drinking water so ensure you bring enough for your stay. Small boats can be launched from the beach although there a no facilities for this and vehicle access is through very soft sand. Dogs are not permitted.
