Description

This gateway was constructed in 1947 by Stan Goodchild, the then property owner, in memory of his son Harold who was killed in action in December 1944 while serving with the RAAF. The two 32 volt lights were orginally powered by wires from the distant homestead. The gateway was restored in 2003 with the cooperation of the present owners AL and ME Shadbolt and family and the Shire. After some time in darkness, tonight the lights were turned back on using a newly installed modern 12 volt LED solar system with very similar appearance to the original 32 volt lights used at the gates in 1947. This is a Free Arts, History and Culture. Pets are allowed. It is accessible to caravans.
