walk down is steep to the site of the circa 1910 pumping plant, supervised by Edward Joseph Kenny 'the Father of Merbein' ..from his pitched tent. steam driven irrigation pumps lifted water 100ft from the river level and then firmed 4 miles of irrigation channels. This is a Free point of interest. Pets are allowed. No camping or overnight parking allowed, day parking with van ok
