Description

Located on beside Lake Fred on Gilberton Station, Mt Hogan is a gold prospecting area and a great place to go camping with the family and get away from the hustle and bustle from everyday life. Please phone ahead and let us know that you are coming. (07) 40 625 458. Upon arrival report to the caretaker's house. You will come to Mt Hogan before Gilberton. The Mt Hogan homestead is visible from the road and on the left hand side of the road, DO NOT ENTER, continue past the homestead for approx 1.5km, there is a sign and turn off to the left for the camping/fossicking area. Continue down this road, following the signs and report to the caretaker There are no facilities. You are required to provide your own drinking water, first aid and toilet. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. There is no mobile phone coverage or phone access. There is no credit card facilities, please bring cash. Fires are allowed for cooking purposes. Make sure the fire is properly contained and extinguished. NO ATV's, RTV's or motorbikes. Dogs are the responsibility of the owner. Gilberton and Mt Hogan Stations bait for feral animals regularly, these baits pose a threat to your pets. We advise that you supervise you dog at all times, should anything happen, it is entirely your responsibility. Should any dogs be found to chase or harm wildlife or cattle, you will be asked to leave.
