Description

Waterhouse Point contains several popular camping spots behind the beach, including Mathers and Waterhouse. Each campsite is fenced and some are tighter than others and may not be suitable for caravans. Each zone is equipped with 'closed composting system' hybrid toilets. ( BYO toilet paper) These toilets are sensitive to chemicals and dumping of portable toilets is not permitted. The nearest dump stations are at Scottsdale, St Helens, George Town or Bridport. Bookings are not taken for this campground. Sites are first in best served. Maximum length of stay is applicable. No fees apply. Visitors are encouraged to bring gas stoves or barbecues for cooking. Campfires, if permitted outside of summer season, should be at least three metres from any overhanging vegetation or trees. Dogs are welcome in the reserve but must be leashed to avoid wandering outside of camp zones, through vegetation, disturbance of wildlife and other camp users. There is no rubbish collection in the reserve and all visitors are asked to 'wildlife-proof' rubbish and remove it on departure. As of 20th October NO camping wood fires are allowed until further notice. Most likely March/ April 2020. This has been an annual restriction imposed by Parks and Wildlife since 2019. Please camp responsibly.
