Small Sites - Not recommended for caravans

Campground

Lyell Hwy, Derwent Bridge, Tasmania.

Description

Sign on fence says fees apply, which is simply a parks permit. Camping in tents is allowed. A small stock of firewood is available at the main area (down at the bank). Wide vehicles risk getting scratched by the brush hanging over the narrow dirt track, which also has some deep potholes further in, susceptible to pooling with water. While the wider expanse of the camping area lies right upon the banks of the lake, a number of small bays (suitable for 1 vehicle) emerge from the trail sporadically on the way in. All in all, there are plenty of sites of one kind or another on offer along the extent of this camping ground, and it doesn't appear to be a heavily used area.
