This is the noticeable rock formation when looking to the East of Hawker. The access road is via the Wilpena Road about one Kilometre from Hawker. Turn right onto the dirt road and drive to the top of the hill. Go through the gate in the fence and follow the track to the rock formation and you will get a panoramic view of the area. The school students built the shelter there. No camping or overnight parking allowed.

400m reasonably flat and easy walk in. Castle Rock itself is fairly small by comparison with others of the same name but pleasant enough with its large somewhat geometric rocks. The area is just high enough to allow a good appreciation of the surrounding plains with more distant hills and ranges. A small shelter with table and benches lets you sit in comfort for a time. Well worth it if you have a spare 30 minutes or so in the area.

Not terrible stop juste rocks

Definitely worth the walk. From road go through the gate and follow the track.
