Diving and snorkelling by permit only
To protect the ponds and for your own safety:
- Only snorkelers and suitably qualified divers are
allowed to enter the water.
- Divers and snorkelers must have a current permit
issued by the Department of Environment, Water
and Natural Resources.
- Divers must be members of the Cave Divers
Association of Australia and rated at Sinkhole category.
- Divers must show proof of current membership
before diving.
Piccaninnie Ponds is a spectacular diving site because of its limestone caverns and crystal clear waters. Visibility can often exceed forty metres.

Did this and Ewans. Would do both again. Very different from each other. The clarity wasn't as good as Ewans but the crevice was insane to see. Even saw some eels.

The clarity wasn't all that great but it was still worth seeing. You swim along through all the algae and then all of a sudden there's a huge crevasse beneath you that drops about 110m give or take. It's like something from another world.
