We Wouldnt Be Dead For Quids
This gravel pit was (possibly) a life saver for us. We had intended camping at a free camp back towards Coober Pedy. After traveling from Stirling North in the morning to Coober Pedy a distance of 550 km, we bought diesel, gas for the van, water and take away Chinese and headed for the site close to The Breakaways turn off. What I had forgotten was how quickly it gets dark in the Outback, so by the time we arrived at the location, we couldn't find it! Now dark, we ate our meal and decided to continue slowly on full Skippy alert, towards Marla. We were so glad to find this spot, even though it's stated on WikiCamps no overnight. We stopped after 600km for the day. We parked behind the gravel pile and had an excellent nights sleep.

Not quite sure where the "Mount" part is of Mt Willoughby , but huge area with landscape views. B & J NZ

Not a bad spot for a quick overnighter. Pretty noisy from the road noise. Nice flat ground with no prickles. No firewood in sight.
