Description

Located approximately 3km northwest of Beachport via the Lake George Road in the Beachport Conservation Park, 3 Mile Bend Campground has 7 unpowered campsites. Campsites need to be booked prior to arrival. The seven sites fringe the lake edge and all are accessible with a 2WD vehicle. Sites vary in size, with most being suitable for small to medium sized caravans. Each site is nestled under paper bark tea- trees, offering good shade and wind protection. The lake is salty and not suitable for swimming, but is home to many types of water birds. The back beach is approximately 1.5km to the west, along a 2WD and 4WD track. Dogs are not permitted in this park. Important: Collection of firewood within National Parks is prohibited. Dead wood plays a vital role in providing shelter for animals and adding nutrients to the soil.

Winter - so only 2 of us here and it's been raining on & off for days! Most travellers have already headed north for warmer weather - smart people! Seven sites bookable on-line. Sites 2,4 & 7 are big enough for caravan rigs only. Site 5 is ok if your van is not too large? The others are more suitable for smaller units - tents, campervans, trailer campers etc. as there is low foliage entering some sites. Sites are sheltered from the wind and are well separated. Good drop toilet, but that is it. No rubbish bins, so be self-contained. On the foreshore of Lake St George - bird life etc. Shrimpy The Manintheblackvan Retired van-lifer

Staying for 3 nights and rated 3 stars. Drop toilet is putrid... And we are far from precious. Really disappointed to see so much litter in and around sites. The sites themselves are large, sheltered and mostly seperate from one another - we had bay 2. We stayed on the weekend and it was a shame it was so noisy due the the large number of dirt bike riders... We come for the peace and quiet but no doubt as this is quite close to town. Amazing birdlife and coastline. Telstra and optus reception.
