Description

There are three main sections in Katarapko; Katarapko Creek, Lock 4 and Eckerts Creek. The Lock 4 and Eckert's Creek sections have campgrounds suited to larger groups. These campgrounds can accommodate smaller caravans and camper trailers and are usually 2WD accessible. Alternatively individuals can book an unallocated site in these campgrounds, but please be aware you may be also camping with other visitors. For a more secluded camping experience, there are also a number of individual sites dotted along the river, Eckert Creek and Katarapko Creek in each section. The sites are different shapes and sizes. They have differing water access and views. They are well sign posted and easy to find, but the camping area is generally not visible from the road, so you will have to drive or walk in to see if the site is suits you. Alternatively, visit 'Book before you go' where you will find a photo and description of each campsite. Site 27 is unpowered and suitable for tents, camper trailers and caravans. Site dimensions: 50m x 40m. Distance from amenities: 236m. No. of vehicles: 3. This site has 30% shade. 2WD access in dry conditions. Pets are not permitted in this section of the park.

We're here now and it's site 42. Great spot, large area, safe from the massive hail and wind storm last night.

This is campsite 27, about 6km along corrugated gravel road into the NP. Spacious private site away from access road, with a couple of level areas to camp, right by the creek. Deep water & wide creek to swim, fish or canoe, steep banks but can access water in places. Toilet about 250m. Scenic view along creek bend, lovely breeze off the water. Some shade. Wildlife mainly wallabies & some birds, quiet & relaxing. Good Telstra & tv reception. But booked 4 nights & left after 2 as the numerous meat ants were biting us whenever we were outdoors, fortunately they didn't enter van.
