Description

Mt Dare Hotel is Australia's most remote pub - open to EVERYONE Mt Dare Hotel is ideally situated on the Western edge of the Simpson Desert just 10km south of the Northern Territory border. We are at a cross road for travellers, visit Ayers Rock to the west, Alice Springs to the north, Queensland via the Simpson to the east and the Oodnadatta track and the Flinders Rangers to the south. Most tracks (with the exception of the Simpson Desert) require minimal 4wd experience and are accessible by popular all wheel drive vehicles. If you do wish to tackle the Simpson moderate 4wd experience and a high clearance 4 wheel drive are necessary. A Park Pass is required to visit the Mt Dare Hotel and to visit or stay at Dalhousie Springs and can be purchased online or at Mt Dare. A Desert Pass is required for the Simpson Desert and can be purchased from the Pub. Set amongst natural bush, our spacious campground provides various sized sites catering for tents, caravans, campervans or swags. Native trees provide shade and privacy giving an air of peace and tranquillity. Toilet and hot shower facilities are provided. Please collect fire wood for camp fires before entering the Witjira National Park and arriving at Mt Dare. There are no powered sites. Pets are not permitted. Booking for camping is not required. MasterCard, Visa and EFTPOS welcome.

SOLO MARK

Road from Oodnadatta via dalhousie was very patchy towing a 21 van. Some sections were down to 5kmh Been told the road to Finke has just had its annual grader run over it! camped here on the way to Finke. Large flat unpowered section out the back. Of course the pay ph wasn't working I'll get restocked at Finke tomorrow and maybe get lucky with the ph coverage Fuel is $3.05 diesel here

Road up from Oodnadatta is good until just before you reach Mt Dare. Heading north to Finke however is incredibly rough with severe corrugations and lots of surprise washouts that could easily do damage including before or after where some of the markers are. Campsite itself is pretty good and has everything you need.
