Description

Greenrise Recreational Reserve comprises a 14.5hs dry lake surrounded by picturesque Red Gums, an ideal spot for a picnic or BBQ. Overnight stays by self -contained vehicles are permitted, free of charge. You may stay up to 48 hours. Self-contained vehicles are defined as having a holding capacity for fresh, grey and black water as well as storage capacity for garbage waste (e.g. they have an on-board shower, fresh water tank, toilet and a garbage container) A public toilet is located 300m away at the day use area. Also on site is the Greenrise Arboretum Trail, which has 6000 trees, 1200 metres of pathways and showcases 110 species of trees. It links up to the Adam Lindsay Gordon walk which takes you around the dry lake, past the Penola Cemetery and back to the RV Site.

Lovely spot! Would have stayed longer than one night however there is a homeless family staying there at the moment, for the next 10 days or so. The kids seem kind enough, but don't really understand privacy and we didn't feel entirely safe leaving our van unattended. It was really sad and we wish them all the best but if you see swags set up on the right as you drive in to the grassy area you'll know they are still there. But this is a lovely base for the area for a couple of nights.

Wonderful spot for the night. Shame someone has done doughnuts in the wet grass but this could be local youth. The area is well maintained and clean. Thanks Penola

Great facility, well maintained, wide open spaces and very rural atmosphere. Based ourselves for two nights to explore Penola town and do some wine tastings. Excellent arboretum right there to walk around and highly recommend. Never get anything like this in W.A. Thanks Penola.
