Description

Coward Springs Campground offers toilets, showers and swimming. It is dog friendly. It is accessible to motorbikes, RVs, camper trailers and caravans. Camping in tents is allowed. There is a 29 degree C warm artesian spa, 6 feet by 8 feet in which to have a dip. A donkey boiler provides the heat for warm showers, so check out the machinery involved. Old timbers have been put to great reuse around the spa, shower and toilet buildings. The owners have restored the engine driver's cottage to the rear of the campground. It is an interesting little museum containing some sign boards and photographs about the Old Ghan, the Afghan cameleers and the Coward Springs Rail sidings. The excess water from the bore flows to the desert and supports a myriad of birds, plants and animals in its wetland. Some of the date palms were planted by the Afghans in the late 1800's. Tamerisk trees were planted early 20th century and provide great shade and character! Bring your own firewood as no collection is permitted. Ecowood boxes are available for $20, There are established fire places to use. Camping bookings are highly recommended during peak season April to October. Bookings are encouraged and must to be done via Website booking form www.cowardsprings.com.au Visit the nearby Wabma Kadarbu Mound Springs.

An amazing oasis, well worth stopping to explore. The kids loved the spa! We arrived around 4.30pm with no booking and were lucky enough to get an overflow spot. A few people who arrived after us weren't so lucky. Suggest you book especially given it was school holidays when we were there. The date scones were the best!

We absolutely loved our stay here. Beautiful bush setting, a billion stars. Great amenities with a donkey for your hot water. Museum was nice with good info. Quick swim in baths. Don't miss the chocolate coated dates and slice, also date scones looked great.
