Oodnadatta Track, Algebuckina, South Australia

Algebuckina Bridge was built over the Neales River to allow the Ghan train to cross during floods. The Algebuckina Bridge is easily accessible from the Oodnadatta Track by foot. A campsite has been established on the eastern side of the Oodnadatta Track, approximately 1km over the road from the bridge. There are no facilities at this campground. Please remove all rubbish and bury human waste well away from the water hole. 4WD is required to access this site. Do not attempt to travel when the Track is wet. It is advisable that in the event of rain developing make your way to the nearest township due to river rises. There is no camping allowed bridge side. Contact Williams Cattle Company, The Peake directly if you wish to travel further east along The Neales.

Beautiful camp spot, but wowie the flies were next level. Could hardly sit outside with them making you go insane. River is nice, and the sunset was amazing!!

Brilliant! I got here early and have a great view of the waterhole. It's just beautiful! No mozzies, lots of bird life, quiet, beautiful sunset & sunrise, and the moonrise was spectacular! Perfect.

What a great spot! Heaps of campfires have been enjoyed here - might be a good idea to use existing ones from now on! The river is flowing and views from the river up to the bridge are magic - especially at sunset! There are some dirt steps to climb up to the bridge where you'll find an old info board. You can walk part way onto the bridge but it's been fenced so you can't walk all the way across. Someone has removed a pole though so you could get across if you were game!
