This plaque commemorates the Exploration Journey from Adelaide to King George's Sound (Albany) by explorer EDWARD JOHN EYRE with companions WYLIE, and JOHN BAXTER in 1840-41, who passed close by this point on that jourmey. It pays tribute to those surveyors and explorers who often endured extreme hardships in their exploration of the Australian Continent
The memorial was placed by the Institution of Engineering and Mining Surveyors (Australia), the Institution of Surveyors (Australial, Department of Lands - South Australia and the Department of Land Administration - Western Australia
