This took us about 2 hours 45 mins and was 5.6k there and back. There are 3 lookouts, the first one is within 800 metres of the start and looks out over the town of cooktown, the second lookout is a further 1 to 1.5ks and gets steeper and then their is the third one right at the top. When you get to the top your met with a helipad. Once you enter via the back right hand corner of the helipad walk straight ahead and you will see a big rock on your right, follow the path to the right and it will bring you out on a big rock overlooking Quarantine Bay It's the same view as the second look out just without safety barriers but we think it's worth the hike

Challenging but very achievable 6km return walk from base to summit. Steep but manageable with small amount of scrambling, slightly overgrown track - but feels more adventurous that way! Thanks to reviews below regarding how to get to lookout at the top. As already stated, walk south east to the small trail in the bush and follow for another 5mins or so. The track is vaguely marked by pink ties. You'll find a spectacular natural lookout along the southern coast. Give it a crack!

Challenging walk in the humid monsoonal rainforest! Easy enough path for the first half but then becomes quite uneven with rocks and tree roots until the top. Once at the summit you have to walk past the heli pad and you will find a indiscript path that slopes down to a large granite rock with lovely south east views.
