Visited in pouring rain yesterday, was amazed at the number of people. Of concern were the crowds on the swing bridge, not sure it was built to cater for 50+ people at once, & overheard a tour guide say so too. Shuttle bus is a rip-off, $5 pp would be adequate. My husband decided to walk but was actively discouraged by staff, but walked anyway. Disappointed with the cafe menu, tourist brochures advertised native ingredients but only the usual fast food on offer. Had a pie in town bakery instead & $3.50 cheaper. Couldn't move in the gift shop so left empty-handed. The gorge itself was nothing special either, barely a gorge. Preferred free Babinda Boulders, far more spectacular.

Yes, it's $12 per adult for the shuttle bus, but this supports the local community which is one of the big reasons we travel. We were here today in the pouring rain and it was great! If you've got a raincoat and an umbrella, don't let the rain out you off. Souvenir shop has some incredible local artwork.

After obtaining the prices of the short 2 Klm bus fare to the start of the boardwalk, we opted to walk, and yes you can definitely choose to do this. In my opinion $12 per adult is steep for this distance. No problem as we are fit enough and enjoy walking, even if a bit humid. The gorge remains beautiful, have been here in the past, prior to the bus fare days. The water is cold but refreshing.
