Kronosaurus Korner is Australia's premier marine fossil museum. It showcases nearly 1,150 unique fossil specimens from Richmond, Outback Queensland. Fossils from the area include the 100-115 million year old remains of extinct marine reptiles, fishes, ammonites and squids that once dominated Australia's ancient inland sea. While fossils of extinct marine reptiles were found in the area during the 1860s, the catalyst for developing the museum occurred in 1989 with the discovery of the spectacular 'Richmond Pliosaur' on a property called Marathon Station near Richmond. The 'Richmond Pliosaur' was recognised by palaeontologists for representing one of the best preserved Cretaceous marine reptile fossils in the world.

What a beautiful town! They have put in so much effort to make it look lovely, even the bins are in the shape of Dinosaur feet and mouths! There's a museum, little lake and parks for the kids. The locals are lovely too. Definitely worth visiting. :)

Absolutely must see Kronosaus corner the best and most informative museum in all dinosaur triangle , yes in our opinion better than "age of dinosaurs" centre In Winton. Pity it is not advertised better. We were so impressed and learned more than any previous displays we saw.

We didn't enter the experience offer as I was just chasing information about road closures. The lady was really helpful about areas open and most importantly that the way we were heading was likely to open up later in the day. Local knowledge always beats websites when it comes to this stuff! Follow us insta/FB: Endeavour adventures
