The only accommodation and camping in the gorge open all year round, Takarakka is set on 100 picturesque acres surrounded by Carnarvon Creek, providing a protective haven for both guests and wildlife. Choose from self-contained accommodation, bring your caravan, roll out a swag or try a Taka Safari Tent for some glamping, all in a tranquil bush setting - ideal for a private getaway, or time out with family and friends. The gorge runs for 35km at the heart of the 302,000 hectare Carnarvon National Park, reaching depths of 600m near its mouth and is one of Queensland's most spectacular and popular natural features. Just five minutes' drive to the mouth of the gorge where your walking adventures begin, Takarakka Bush Resort is the perfect base for your stay, and we're sure you'll love it as much as we do. To help make your stay complete, we offer information sessions, tours, entertainment, meals, our famous Bush bar, a well-stocked general store including souvenirs, beer and wine plus excellent facilities. It doesn't get better than that!

We had a good 2 night stay at Takarakka in an unpowered site. The scenery around the park is beautiful and there is a nice lookout easy 5min walk. The intro video is also handy as we didn't know much what to do at Carnarvon Gorge. It would be great if everyone mopped the shower after using it, it's not the park's fault it gets dirt. Other than that, my only complaints would be the lady at reception that was a bit rude when we checked in (the one I spoke to on the phone was really nice and helpful though) and it would be great to have a microwave in the camp kitchen (we went to heat up our food and there was a microwave there and we used it but ended up the microwave was from another camper haha so thanks camper for letting us use it).

Stayed 4 nights. It was OK. Staff were friendly, but didn't go out if there way to talk or interact with anyone. Amenities- yeah not bad, but one of the soap dispensers in ladies was empty for the whole time even after staff were told. Not cleaned every day. No slab sights, so more a bush camping experience than a caravan park. Lots of maintenance needed around to clean up a bit. Feel the $45 pn is a bit much, but that's what you do to see the magnificent area.

Has recently come under NEW MANAGEMENT. Friendly and helpful staff from the managers to grounspeople. Amenities were clean and well maintained. Had no negative experiences as per recent review by CAPLES. Enjoyed our 3 day stay and Carnarvon Gorge.
