Description

The only accommodation and camping in the gorge open all year round, Takarakka is set on 100 picturesque acres surrounded by Carnarvon Creek, providing a protective haven for both guests and wildlife. Choose from self-contained accommodation, bring your caravan, roll out a swag or try a Taka Safari Tent for some glamping, all in a tranquil bush setting - ideal for a private getaway, or time out with family and friends. The gorge runs for 35km at the heart of the 302,000 hectare Carnarvon National Park, reaching depths of 600m near its mouth and is one of Queensland's most spectacular and popular natural features. Just five minutes' drive to the mouth of the gorge where your walking adventures begin, Takarakka Bush Resort is the perfect base for your stay, and we're sure you'll love it as much as we do. To help make your stay complete, we offer information sessions, tours, entertainment, meals, our famous Bush bar, a well-stocked general store including souvenirs, beer and wine plus excellent facilities. It doesn't get better than that!

Stayed for 4 nights. Would recommend at least 3 days to do the walks. We had a lovely spacious drive through site. Amenities were very clean with generous sized shower cubicles and plenty of hot water. Staff were always friendly. Really enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyed an unpowered site for 3 nights. Spacious and easily accessed. Camp kitchen was awesome with plenty of burners and bbqs. Amenities were clean till the mud gets trooped through them! The 4.30 bar was surprisingly well priced and the video informative. 4 km from the start of the main walks made it easy. Birdlife aplenty too. Thanks.

Poor arrival experience with staff uneducated on the sites they are allocating particular vehicles. No pull through bays as advertised and be aware when they say open fire pits, it is a communal fire only. Individual fires NOT PERMITTED. Handy to walking tracks and hot showers although very old.
