Gravel Pit

Carnarvon Highway, Rewan, Queensland

Abandoned gravel pit, large flat area suitable for all vehicles, grass growing through the gravel but very solid beneath. Slightly raised from the nearby highway so a bit of privacy and not much noise.

Perfect little stealth spot. Set back from the road it's quieter and you don't get buffeting from the road trains passing. Lots of space, solid and flat ground. Keep your eyes peeled on approach, very easy to miss the track in. It's about 300m AFTER the roadside pull in place from the south. No toilets or facilities of any kind so number ones only and keep your rubbish :-)

As gravel pits and over night stops goes. This was great. When heading south really need to look for the road as very hard to see. Had the place to ourselves. It's a gravel pit and yes grass is long but still enough space on the road to set up. Bit of wood laying around so you can have a fire. Can hear road traffic but the big rigs settle after 9pm.

Great campsite for after visiting Carnarvon Gorge. All gravel and grass, no mud!
