Description
Free 48 hour campground in MacKenzie Park, Duaringa. Donations are welcomed at the visitor information centre, pop in and have a chat with the local volunteers.
Mackenzie Park, on the eastern side of town, is home to a rare tree that is only found in the Duaringa township. The Duaringa Stringy Bark, known to the Aboriginals as 'Budgeroo', grows up to 10 metres tall and has bushy foliage with small white flowers that bloom in spring. These trees were of great cultural significance to the early Aboriginals who used its bark to make rope, baskets and building materials.
Visit the park during the day to enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of the Budgeroo. Or camp over night. Take a walk through the Duaringa township along the historical trail, a detailed map can be collected from the visitor information centre. Mackenzie Park has camping areas with electric barbecues, toilets, drinking water, dump point, free hot showers and a playground for the kids.
It is accessible to motorbikes, RVs, camper trailers, caravans and big rigs. Camping in tents is allowed.

Come on everyone leave a donation....every $ helps keep this gem of a camp open. Apparently only about 30% of people donate. Bet you all use the clean toilets..showers...dump point and take the drinking water.

Pity you are prevented from expressing a view by the drongos in WikiCamps office, who play god and delete what they don't like. Autocrats. I spent $150 on fuel n $67 on groceries. Could have waited till Rocky but chose to spend here. Last time I'll do that.
