Description

Mapoon is an harmonious, remote Aboriginal community with beautiful beaches and rich culture. The town has a small shop providing fuel, food, and ATM. The Mapoon community has an Alcohol Management Plan in place, with restrictions on the amount and type of liquor that may be carried on persons or vehicles in the area. Observing the restrictions is a must for all visitors to our community. Check-in is at the Council Office Reception. The camping area is accessible by four wheel drive and is suitable for tents and camper trailers. This beachside location features toilets, cold showers and a boat ramp.
