We did a day trip from Alice Springs. We didn't bring our caravan and wouldn't recommend taking a van in. The 22km track is very rocky & corrugated. The last 4km to the start of the walk requires high clearance. The walk & scenery was lovely but not worth a day trip.

Road to Palm valley camp ground has now been graded!! 4WD & AWD, camp trailers and caravans can travel this route more easily. Still recommend lowering tyre pressure and engage high range 4WD as this will preserve the road surface and make for a more comfortable ride.

The track is so much fun but you need high clearance 4WD vehicle! We went all the way to the campground and the lookout and it was worth it. It gets worse the closer you get to palm valley but so worth it! Follow our adventures on Instagram @spidervan_adventures
