These natural thermal springs are situated on the banks of the Katherine River, within the Katherine township, and comprise of a series of clear pools framed by native vegetation. Once, the main pool was simply an indentation at the edge of the Katherine River, but now the area is a place to relax, enjoy swimming in the pools, the picnic grounds and scenic walking tracks. Swimming hours are between 7am and 7pm and closed outside these hours. The closure of the Katherine Hot Springs is weather dependent on water levels. The Katherine Hot Springs are usually closed from November to April due to excess water. Please check with the Katherine Visitor Information Centre Team open and closures. Dogs are not permitted. No camping or overnight parking allowed.

Came here on the way in and out to Darwin - our favourite of all the springs. A few parts to swim in. Not too deep. Lots of shade and areas to picnic on on the lower side. Careful at the top where the rocks are slippery. Thanks Katherine!

Be careful here with your belongings and also the water quality. Our son caught a waterborne virus, and the girls all UTIs. We also ran into families in Darwin with the same issues, including cuts getting infected. Talking to GPs and Naturopaths in Darwin, it seems like the locals are aware of this and keep away from Katherine and Berry Hotsprings for this reason in tr peak season.

Beautiful pools, we came back a few times. We did have our bags rifled through and some minor things stolen near the top pool in the middle of the day. Leave any valuables in the car.
