Description
Located in Litchfield National Park, the spectacular Florence Falls cascade into a plunge pool, set in a pocket of monsoon forest.
Enjoy the easy three minute walk from the car park to the scenic viewing platform high above the falls for panoramic views of the gorge, open valley, Florence Falls and the waterhole below. Note the contrast between the wet monsoon forest and the dry sandstone plateau. Stretch your legs by following the gorge rim walk down the stairs to the valley floor. A seat at the halfway mark provides the opportunity for a breather and a photo. Continue on to the plunge pool for a refreshing dip year-round in the crystal clear waters.
The one kilometre moderate grade Shady Creek walk will loop you back, along a stream through the rainforest-filled gorge, then through the woodlands back to Florence Creek. Bring a picnic and stop here for a break, complete with the sound of the creek bubbling past. It's then just a short stroll to the car park.

Visited today. Was an easy walk down the steps to the falls...and an easy enough, mostly shaded walk back out via the 1km path. We enjoyed it, but when we were there there was a lot of people and the swimming hole was very full...but within 20 mins it had cleared so people are coming and going. There are steps down to the water so easy to enter. It is deep so noodles are good but a few bigger rocks to stand on in a few spots. 2 beautiful waterfalls. Was quite cold and couldn't stay in for too long. On the walk back we found some nice spots along the creek (near the day picnic area) and had another quiet dip. Worth the visit but wouldn't be somewhere to stay for very long. Not a lot of comfy space to set up a spot.

We did the walk down the stairs and then back out along the creek track. The swim was fantastic even though the little fish had a taste of me. This is another one of those must do things in Litchfield.
