Just Another Van Fam

Worth the drive in, but definitely need 4wd. We did with a 2 & 4 year old. One of our favourite walks in both the East and West Macdonnell Ranges! First half is a little boring, but once you get down to the gorge it's stunning. If you're short for time, head left from the carpark and start the walk there. You can walk up and look over the ponds from up on the rocks. Then just turn around and come back when you've had enough. Lookout to the right (the one on the sign post) isn't worth it if you're just going for that!

Really enjoyed this walk. Head right of the sign and follow up hill. Eventually you will enter the gorge and follow the arrows closely past a number of pools and around one smaller waterfall (dry) then another much bigger drop: Climb out of the gorge following the arrows around the cliffs above and back down to the camp/carpark. Only improvement would have been a hot day for a swim.

Loved this 3.5km walk. We did it in about 2 hours with 3 kids and stops for snacks and water. Beautiful gorge that reminded us of Karijini. Shame the water holes were a big stagnant. Fun rock climb towards the end. As others have said, head for the carpark once you reach the top of the gorge as the trail doesn't direct you back to it! The drive from the main road is 4km in and very rocky in sections. Need high clearance 4WD.
