Banambarrnga (Rainbow Cliff) Campground DGP Req

4.5 from 17 users

Banambarrnga/Rainbow Cliffs is a sheer section of coastline where the exposed and weathered rock profile produces a striking colourful effect on the cliff face as it plunges over 40 meters into the sea. Open forest runs to the top of the cliff and a small tidal creek winds through a mangrove community to spill into the sea at its western end, where there is easy access to a sandy beach. The top of the cliff is a Sacred Site and access is not permitted. Follow the road to the eastern side of the cliffs to see a spectacular view from the laterite shelf adjacent to the cliff base. The western side of the track leads to a small cliff, camping areas and a beach. There is also a composting toilet on this site. Access is via 4WD and sites are suitable for tents and camper trailers. Anyone wanting to visit this Recreational Area must obtain a General Permit from Dhimurru before they go. Permit applications can be made online or by contacting the Dhimurru office on 08 8939 2700 or

Perfect place to camp close to town. Campsite 1 is the best, high up on the cliff with beautiful views. Fire pit and low bench, toilets are ok. Full phone service and easy trek in to town.

Excellent site with great views. Plenty of room, clean toilets, road in good order - a few corrugations. Maybe our favourite yet. At low tide you can walk along the beach to check Rainbow Cliff. Accessible to single axil off road hybrids

Absolutely incredible views of the coast line. Site 1 is right on Cliff edge and provides the best view. All sites provide great views though & fantastic sunset opportunities
