Discover the sights of Darwin, Australia's only tropical capital city and the largest city in the Northern Territory. The day starts with a visit to the Darwin Aviation Museum, to learn about the city's aviation history. You'll also check out a B-52 Bomber, which is on permanent loan from the United States Air Force, plus there are 19 other aircraft on display.
Next, spend time exploring the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, which is home to the largest permanent display of Aboriginal art in Australia. Then it's on to the Darwin Botanic Garden, where you can wander among nature and learn about the gardens' natural and cultural history. The Darwin city section's final component is a tour of the city to take in all the must-see sights.
It's now time for a trip out of the city and into the Northern Territory wilds. Your journey takes you to the Adelaide River to join a spectacular crocodile cruise. Over 1600 crocs call the river home, and you'll be able to witness their mighty power as they leap out of the water for a taste of buffalo meat offered by your guide. Enjoy learning about their biology, their territorial habits, and their value to the ecosystem.
The final stop of this excellent day out is the Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve. View the incredible wetland scenery and take the opportunities to spy plentiful birdlife. There are nearly 200 different bird species that call the area home and are rare to find elsewhere, so remember to take your binoculars. The dam is also a haven for water pythons and freshwater turtles.
Finish off with a stop at Howard Springs, for a chance to see barramundi's and turtles.
