Originally constructed in June 1867 by the Grenfell Water Company to supply water to gold claims and crushers, the dam now serves as a recreational haven for outdoor enthusiasts. This historical site, now Crown Land, boasts a rich avian diversity, making it a prime spot for birdwatching. Over 50 bird species have been recorded here, including the Peaceful Dove, Rainbow Bee-eater, and Red-browed Finch.
