Description

Overnight camping along the picturesque MacDonald River. Maximum stay 24h. The campground is at the end of the gravel road (approx 500mtrs). Registration/fees box is about 50m along the gravel road (Big yellow box) on the left. $5 per vehicle. Put your money in the envelope (and back into the yellow box) and pop the permit on your dash. Be aware, it's regularly policed to make sure everyone has paid. Toilets block, bins, fire BBQs, sheltered picnic tables and taps with good drinking water with the town water source coming from the river. Keep in mind, down by the river is one of the coldest places in the country and regularly gets below -10° from late autumn to early spring. Plenty of bird life and occasionally platypus.
