West Kunderang Retreat

Campground

Description

West Kunderang Retreat will reopen Monday 14th September 2020. Get in touch to book your campsite! ------------------- Located on West Kunderang, a cattle property privately owned by the McRae family, along the riverine escarpment, between Armidale and Kempsey, north-eastern NSW. Totally surrounded by the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, World Heritage listed for its Dry Rainforest Ecosystems and Rugged Gorge Vistas, the retreat offers access to the pristine waters of the Macleay River, with a myriad of recreational activities and relaxing interludes! Limited camping accommodation is available. Most of the National Park, surrounding West Kunderang is declared Wilderness, open only to self-reliant recreation (ie hiking & canoeing) and is heritage listed for its Dry Rainforest ecosystems and rugged gorge vistas! Our location at West Kunderang indeed reflects our unique position in that we have similar natural values as the Wilderness and heritage listed areas, differing in that we manage conventional vehicular access to our property allowing outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy a greater range of activities in this spectacular gorge country. We would like to think our visitors can enjoy the best of both worlds!
