Located in Burrawan State Forest, The Old Bottlebutt (Corymbia gummifera) is the largest Red Bloodwood tree in the southern hemisphere. The spectacular tree has significant natural heritage value with an estimated age of more than 200 years old. It is one of the largest and most unusual trees of its species, with a recorded girth of more than 16 metres just above its base. Old Bottlebutt is accessible via the Old Bottlebutt Walking Track and is a must-see if you're visiting the NSW mid north coast. The Old Bottlebutt Walking Track meanders through an area of remnant rainforest in a 600m loop, taking in footbridges and creek crossings. This walk includes the viewing area for the Old Bottlebutt, an amazing and huge Red Bloodwood in all its spectacular glory. A hardwood timber viewing deck with seating provides a wonderfully relaxing way to enjoy Old Bottlebutt and the surrounding forest. Interpretive signage provides visitors with more information on the unique and varied flora and fauna of the site. Located at the start of the Old Bottlebutt Walking Track, this spot incorporates a large sheltered area and picnic table for visitors. It's a great place to relax and enjoy refreshments before heading off on the track to Old Bottlebutt. Carparking and toilets are also available. No camping or overnight parking.
