Description

Built in Birmingham England by Tangye Pty Ltd, the George Chaffey designed engine, was the first of four used to pump water to the early farmers in our region. Shipped to Australia and brought to Mildura by train and river barge in 1889, the engine was originally located on the edge of Kings Billabong, the pump operated until 1955 before it was decommissioned.
