If you want to be self sufficient on KI and need to fill your tanks of a van or similar then there are very limited places. The islands has pumped de-sal water. To fill your tanks there is only Penneshaw or Kingscote. The dump point at the visitors centre has a tap. There is also a tap at servo at Kingscote and next to the concert pole opp the servo. We didn't come across any other public taps with potable water on the island. That said most of the more popular camps suitable for vans have $2 (3 min ) showers - so stock up on your $2 coins and make your water last longer!
