This is a great walk , best to go early like 6:30am in mid jan very warm, towards the top where the stairs start around 700 stairs all up and also a rock scramble intermittent with the stairs , when almost at top keep left and there is a bit more scramble to the top. Great views very tiring we are mid 50's and reasonable fitness

Stunning views of the incredible Warrumbungles topography. The Western Plains form a contrasting background which adds to the experience. The West Spirey Track loop to return is challenging for a mild disability like mine.

We hiked to the Grand High Tops & Bread Knife anti-clockwise via the West Spirey circuit track. Well what a mission that was!! Lots of loose rocks & very very steep in places. The section up & over the top is a rock scramble following yellow markers. Of course, when you reach that height there are spectacular views & the rock formations are fascinating. Once over the top there are staircases & steps that go down forever & a few kms of mostly paved pathway back to the carpark.
