Description

For a riverside adventure filled with swimming, paddling, fishing and wildlife spotting, try Platypus Flat campground in Nymboi-Binderay National Park near Dorrigo. The campground has 18 unpowered sites. Campsites are marked. Sites 1-6 are suitable for small caravans (under 15ft or 4.6m), camper trailers and campervans and tents. Sites 7-18 are suitable for tents. Facilities include picnic tables, barbecue facilities, carpark, drinking water and toilets. Rubbish bins are not available, so please take all rubbish with you. Water is available at this campground, from the Nymboida River. You'll need to treat or boil it before drinking. It's a good idea to bring your own supply for drinking and cooking. Book online or call the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. Check the weather before you set out as the road to Platypus Flat campground can become boggy when it rains. Accessible by 2WD in dry weather. No long vehicle access and not suitable for large caravans. Mixture of sealed and unsealed roads. 4WD required in wet weather. This is a remote campground so you'll need to be self-sufficient. There's no mobile phone service or telephone at the campground. The nearest mobile service is located around 8km away, at the intersection of Moonpar and Mills Roads. Coin-operated public phones are located at the villages of Cascade and Bostobrick. The Nymboida River downstream from Platypus Flat campground is remote and inaccessible. It has dangerous rapids (up to Grade 6). Only experienced, well-equipped and prepared whitewater paddlers should attempt this river. Gathering of firewood, pets, generators and smoking are not permitted.

Such a beautiful place. Road in is a bit hectic...it says OK for 2 wheel drive as long as its not wet. I made it but struggled in my townace van

Great spot. Was absolutely freezing but. The spots for camper and are only suited to a single camper and fairly small

This is my go to location. Great toilets and an awesome spot to swim. Be careful in high waters. It can get rough. Also has a decent supply of free firewood. Very well maintained.
